Oral Hygienist Position - Fort St James, BC, Canada

Posted by Stella Pascale on Thursday, 27 September 2018 06:35

We are looking for a dental hygienist to join our busy practice in Fort St James, BC, Canada.  New grads are welcome to apply.

We are looking for someone with:

-        Good communication skills

-        Positive attitude

-        Empathetic

-        Supportive and non-judgmental for our patients

-        Team player

We offer:

-        Positive, supportive and fun work environment

-        Great team of co-workers

-        Competitive wages

-        Regular hours, usually Monday-Thursday, 7:45-5:15

Please email resumés to: StuartLakeDental@gmail.com

Information for international applicants:

Rural Canada has a shortage of dental hygienists. Average wages are 37-45 CAD / hr.

The successful candidate would have to obtain a BC dental hygiene license. http://www.cdhbc.com/Registration-Renewal/Clinical-Examination.aspx

The licensing process takes up to one year. The first step is to request that the degrees are equivalent to Canadian school at the National Dental Hygiene Certification Board. https://www.ndhcb.ca/how-to-become-certified . The NDHCB has approved the education equivalency of other hygienists applying from South Africa, so this will likely not be a barrier. Once this is done, the candidate writes the NDHCE board exam.

Then, to be licensed in BC, the clinical exam must be done: http://www.cdhbc.com/Registration-Renewal/Clinical-Examination.aspx . This exam runs once a year in November.

When the licensure is complete we will assist with obtaining a 2 year work permit that can be renewed.

Thought the process takes time and can cost approximately $15,000 with flights, the benefits of high wages and working in an area with high demand will make it worthwhile.
